Senior Accountant / Bookkeeper

About the role

Ourkingdom is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant/Bookkeeper to lead financial management across our civil, electrical and mechanical engineering divisions. You will ensure accurate accounting, tax compliance and provide strategic financial insight to drive profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, budgets and financial forecasts.
• Analyse project costs, profit margins and support tender pricing.
• Maintain the general ledger, process supplier and customer invoices, perform bank reconciliations and manage the fixed‑asset register.
• Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, SDL, UIF, EMP501 and company income tax returns, liaising with SARS as required.
• Produce project cost reports, track expenditures and recommend corrective actions for cost overruns.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or engineering.
• Strong bookkeeping and management‑accounting background.
• Proven experience with South African tax compliance (VAT, PAYE, UIF, SARS audits).
• Experience in tender pricing and project costing.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Sage Pastel and Sage 300.
• Xero and QuickBooks.
• Payroll software.
• Good understanding of IFRS.
