Senior Account Manager – Public Relations

About the role

This senior, hands‑on position is for an experienced public relations professional who can immediately add value to a dynamic agency operating across sport, lifestyle, entertainment and cultural sectors. The successful candidate will manage client accounts, lead campaigns and produce polished, publication‑ready content with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute integrated PR campaigns for sport, lifestyle, entertainment and cultural brands, staying aligned with sporting calendars, major events and lifestyle trends.
• Identify and create compelling media angles that link brands to relevant sporting moments, sponsorships and cultural conversations.
• Maintain and expand an existing network of South African media contacts, proactively pitching stories and securing editorial placements.
• Coordinate interviews, press conferences, media briefings and other engagements, ensuring seamless execution around events and launches.
• Produce a wide range of written materials – press releases, media pitches, statements, opinion pieces, executive profiles, speeches, Q&As and briefing documents – that are accurate, engaging and tailored to the target audience.
• Own allocated client accounts, build trusted relationships, lead client meetings and translate objectives into effective PR strategies while managing budgets, deadlines and approvals.

Required profile

• 4–7+ years of solid PR experience, preferably within an agency environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in sport and lifestyle PR, with an established personal network of journalists, editors, producers, presenters and influencers.
• Exceptional writing and editing ability, with strong editorial judgement and attention to detail.
• Proven track record of managing multiple client accounts, campaigns and competing deadlines.
• Confident in leading client meetings, providing strategic advice and mentoring junior team members.
• Highly organised, proactive and capable of identifying media opportunities without direction.
