Sales Team Lead

About the role

Asilia Africa, a safari company founded in 2004 with lodges and camps in Tanzania and Kenya, is hiring a Sales Team Lead in Cape Town. The role is the operational partner of the Regional Sales and Reservations Manager and the first point of support for the team during the day. It is an internally focused leadership and operational support role: the Team Lead does not carry a standard consultant workload and does not manage agents directly.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the daily team check-in, oversee enquiry allocation and re-allocation, and monitor response and turnaround times
• Provide first-line guidance on quoting, itineraries, rates, products, logistics and systems
• Coordinate cover and handovers for leave, training, absence and out-of-hours support
• Complete quality checks on each consultant's work, record incidents and coordinate team-level incident resolution
• Escalate repeated, systemic or high-impact risks and matters with material financial or reputational impact
• Coach consultants, support onboarding and identify development needs
• Maintain accurate views of enquiry volumes, open quotes, workload and quality trends, and report weekly to the Regional Manager
• Work with Sales Support, Allocations, Agent Relationship Managers, Finance and Operations to improve delivery

Required profile

• Demonstrated strong performance in a Sales Consultant role or a comparable role
• Strong organisation, attention to detail and ability to prioritise competing demands
• Sound judgement and clear internal communication, coaching and feedback skills
• Calm, reliable and discreet, able to work independently and collaborate across teams
• An advantage: previous leadership, mentoring or coordination experience, and experience with quality assurance, onboarding, training, reporting or process improvement

Required skills

• Confident use of systems, dashboards and Microsoft Excel or equivalent reporting tools
• Ability to make routine operational decisions within agreed authority
