Sales & Marketing Manager - Chemicals & Food Ingredients

About the role

Rumeshni Reddy is looking for a Sales & Marketing Manager in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, responsible for growing its chemicals and food ingredients division. The postholder reports directly to the Director and needs a proven track record in sales and marketing of industrial chemicals and food ingredients.

Key responsibilities

• Build multi-level customer relationships, increase market penetration and coverage, and act as a sales-focused person with a strong understanding of the market, customers and product applications.
• Assess the market, prepare sales forecasts, secure orders and monitor sales performance against yearly budgets.
• Identify new growth opportunities in the division and plan and execute strategies to bring in new customers and introduce new products.
• Coordinate with the import logistics / supply chain team so products are delivered on time and stock levels are maintained.
• Plan regular customer visits, generate business and produce market intelligence and customer visit reports on trends, competition, new products and customer information.
• Handle customer complaints promptly and take proactive steps to prevent recurrence.
• Build relationships with the principals represented in South Africa and manage agencies in the food ingredients and chemicals industry, formulating win-win sales strategies.

Required profile

• Minimum 5-10 years of work experience with a proven record in sales and marketing of industrial chemicals and food ingredients.
• Self-starter, quick learner, determined and able to take initiative.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organisation and leadership skills.
• Technical background in chemistry, food science/technology, chemical engineering or a similar field preferred but not required.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
