SAIPA Trainee – Durban North (Accounting)

About the role

Our client, an accounting firm in Durban North, is seeking SAIPA trainees for a three‑year full‑time programme. The traineeship provides the pathway to become a Professional Accountant and is based entirely in the office at Glenashley. The role is strictly office‑based and requires daily commuting; applicants from Amanzimtoti, Ballito or Pietermaritzburg will not be considered due to transport constraints.

Key responsibilities

• Perform bookkeeping and prepare accounting reports.
• Assist in the assurance, review and compilation of annual financial statements.
• Calculate taxes and submit VAT201 and EMP201 returns.
• Complete tasks required to meet SAIPA training competencies.

Required profile

• Currently studying for or holding a BCom degree or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in an accounting practice.
• Reside in or near Durban North and have reliable daily transport to Glenashley.
• Professional appearance and corporate attire.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as Draftworx, XERO or Pastel (advantageous).
• Strong analytical ability and accuracy under pressure.
