SAICA Clerk (Trainee Accountant) – Randburg

About the role

We are a growing accounting and auditing firm based in Randburg, seeking a motivated SAICA Clerk (Trainee Accountant) to join our professional team under a SAICA Training Contract. This entry‑level role offers hands‑on exposure to audit, accounting, tax and client‑service functions while you work towards Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with audit planning, testing, reconciliations and preparation of audit working papers.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and compile annual financial statements in line with IFRS/IFRS for SMEs.
• Process VAT, PAYE and Income Tax returns; support tax computations for individuals, trusts and companies.
• Maintain client records, support CIPC filings and ensure compliance with SAICA training requirements.
• Communicate professionally with clients, attend meetings and deliver work within agreed deadlines.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting degree from a SAICA‑accredited institution.
• Currently studying towards CTA/PGDA or completed CTA/PGDA (advantageous).
• No prior experience required; any accounting, bookkeeping, tax or audit exposure is a plus.
• Valid driver’s licence, reliable transport and willingness to travel to client sites.

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and overall Microsoft Office suite.
• Familiarity with CaseWare, Xero, Sage Pastel, QuickBooks or Draftworx.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
