Risk Management Committee Chairperson

About the role

The municipality is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to serve as Chairperson of the Risk Management Committee. The role involves leading the committee, overseeing risk policies and supporting the Accounting Officer in municipal risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Review the Risk Management Policy, Strategy, Implementation Plan and Committee Charter.
• Prepare and present risk management reports to the Accounting Officer and Audit Committee.
• Assist the Accounting Officer in discharging risk management responsibilities and perform duties specified in the terms of reference and Public Sector Risk Management Framework.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Risk Management, Auditing/Accounting or an equivalent qualification.
• Knowledge of the Municipal Finance Management Act 56 of 2003 and related local government legislation.
• Ability to lead, chair and direct Risk Management Committee meetings.
• Membership of the Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA) or the Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIASA) is strongly recommended.

Required skills

• Understanding of risk management frameworks and policies.
• Familiarity with municipal finance and governance regulations.

What we offer
