Reverse Osmosis Plant Operator (Level 2)

About the role

The Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant Operator (Level 2) is responsible for operating and monitoring the RO plant to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety and quality standards. You will work on‑site in Sasolburg, supporting continuous improvement and high‑performance targets.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain safety adherence on shift, including housekeeping, hazard identification, and permit‑to‑work (PTW) processes.
• Perform sampling and laboratory analysis (Calcium, Silica, Alkalinity, pH) using handheld instruments.
• Monitor HMI trends, adjust plant parameters, and calibrate pH meters every 2‑3 days.
• Start/stop pumps, open/close valves, and check dosing tank and chemical stock levels daily.
• Continuously monitor plant health and fault status from the control room.
• Report deviations, attend SOR meetings, and provide feedback on plant performance.

Required profile

• Matric (Maths and Science) with NQF Level 3 qualification.
• 2‑5 years of relevant experience in plant operations or water treatment.
• Core behavioural competencies: decision making, teamwork, reliability, adaptability, integrity, communication, and collaboration.

Required skills

• Basic process safety knowledge.
• Basic firefighting and first‑aid knowledge.
• Operation of handheld analytical instruments for sampling and lab analysis.
• pH meter calibration and maintenance.
• HMI control system monitoring and trend analysis.
• Pump and valve operation.
• Chemical dosing and stock management.
