Restaurant Supervisor

About the role

The restaurant at a large hotel in Sandton is seeking a proactive Restaurant Supervisor to lead daily operations and ensure exceptional guest experiences. This hands‑on leader will work closely with the kitchen, bar and service teams to maintain high standards in a fast‑paced, high‑end environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all front‑of‑house activities across breakfast, lunch and dinner shifts, focusing on service excellence and guest satisfaction.
• Coach, motivate and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
• Maintain consistency in food and beverage presentation, guest interaction and service delivery.
• Manage staffing levels, schedules, productivity and cost targets while ensuring compliance with health, safety and hygiene regulations.
• Oversee inventory, ordering, stock control and cost management, and conduct daily banking and cash‑handling procedures.
• Handle guest feedback and challenging situations with professionalism and decisive action.
• Prepare reports on sales, team performance and service metrics, and support revenue‑driving initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Restaurant Manager on performance evaluations, training and disciplinary processes.

Required profile

• Recognised qualification in Hospitality Management or a related field.
• Minimum two years’ experience in a supervisory or management role within a 5‑star hotel or comparable high‑end restaurant.
• Proven ability to lead teams in a fast‑moving, high‑standard environment.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
