Reliability Engineer

About the role

The Reliability Engineer will be responsible for overseeing asset reliability risks and the operation and maintenance of equipment and systems. The role focuses on developing and optimizing maintenance strategies to improve asset reliability and support production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Manage asset reliability risks and implement loss elimination, risk management, and life‑cycle asset management programs.
• Develop, enhance and implement policies, processes and operational procedures to boost service delivery and productivity.
• Lead reliability programmes, conduct regular inspections of mining equipment and structures, and recommend maintenance actions.
• Design and implement fit‑for‑purpose maintenance programmes to minimise downtime and maximise productivity.
• Analyse operational data and performance metrics using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and reporting tools.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Engineering (NQF 6) with a Trade Test / S4 / T3; a BSc in Engineering is advantageous.
• 5–8 years combined experience as a maintenance planner or supervisor, with acting experience at Maintenance Superintendent or General Engineering Supervisor level.
• Valid National Road Act (NRA) driver’s licence (Code E/EB etc.).
• Working towards a Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works) and holding relevant certifications such as Reliability‑Centred Maintenance Management and CMMS Life‑Cycle Cost.
