Registered Nurse - Trauma Trained (Trauma & Emergency)

About the role

A full-time Registered Nurse position in a Trauma and Emergency setting in Lenasia, Gauteng. The nurse provides safe, cost-effective, high-quality patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and delivers direct and/or indirect nursing care, including assessment, planning, execution and supervision of care. Candidates must be trauma trained.

Key responsibilities

• Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and take full responsibility for these activities
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients
• Attend shift handover reports at the start of each shift
• Communicate effectively with patients about their care
• Promote patient health and wellbeing
• Audit health records to ensure compliance
• Ensure stock is well controlled, managed, charged and credited correctly
• Maintain good relations with patients, relatives and visitors
• Be flexible to rotate to other wards when occupancy fluctuates

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse or Midwife, or an equivalent NQF 7 qualification
• Relevant qualification in a specialist area
• 2 years' experience in a Trauma Unit
• Ability to work flexible hours and shifts
• Capacity to uphold health practice standards required by accredited bodies and health legislation

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy
• Trauma unit nursing experience
