Registered Nurse - Surgical Ward

About the role

A full-time Registered Nurse position on a surgical ward in Lenasia, Gauteng. The nurse delivers safe, cost-effective patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and provides direct and/or indirect nursing care, assessing, planning, implementing and supervising care to meet patient needs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care within the scope of practice and take full responsibility for it
• Communicate effectively with doctors about patient requirements
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients and communicate clearly with them about their care
• Attend shift handovers and promote the health and wellbeing of patients
• Maintain good relationships with patients, relatives and visitors
• Audit health records to ensure compliance
• Ensure stock is properly controlled, managed, charged and credited

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
• Experience working in a surgical ward
• Ability to uphold health practice standards required by accredited bodies and health legislation
• Flexibility to work different hours and shifts
