NICU Registered Nurse

About the role

A full-time Registered Nurse position in the NICU at a hospital group in Lenasia, Gauteng. The nurse provides safe, cost-effective patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients, including assessing, planning, implementing and supervising care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care within the scope of practice and take full responsibility for it
• Communicate effectively with doctors about patient requirements
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients and communicate clearly with them about their care
• Attend shift handovers and promote the health and wellbeing of patients
• Audit health records to ensure compliance
• Control and manage stock, ensuring it is charged and credited correctly
• Maintain good relations with patients, relatives and visitors

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
• Ability to uphold health practice standards required by accredited bodies and health legislation
• Flexibility to work varying hours and shifts
• Experience in the NICU
