Registered Nurse (Surgical Ward)

About the role

The Royal Hospital and Heart Centre, advertised through Lenmed, is looking for a Registered Nurse for its Surgical Ward in Royldene, Kimberley. The nurse delivers cost-effective, safe and high-quality patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and provides direct and/or indirect nursing care to patients or groups of patients, assessing, planning, executing and supervising care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care in line with the scope of practice and take full responsibility for it
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients
• Attend shift handover reports at the start of each shift
• Communicate effectively with patients about their care and promote their health and wellbeing
• Audit health records to ensure compliance
• Ensure stock is well controlled, managed, charged and credited correctly
• Promote and maintain good relations with patients, relatives and visitors

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse or Midwife, or an equivalent NQF 7 qualification
• Relevant qualification and experience in a specialist area
• Ability to work flexible hours and shifts
• Capacity to uphold health practice standards required by accredited bodies and comply with health legislation
