Registered Nurse – Operating Room (Ophthalmology)

About the role

This position coordinates daily clinical care activities for ophthalmology surgeries and serves as the primary resource for surgeons and mid‑level providers in the operating room.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain rapport with surgeons and mid‑level providers, addressing daily surgical needs.
• Organize meetings with surgeons to discuss flow, supply requirements, and OR efficiency.
• Collaborate with OR charge nurses to ensure appropriate staffing and consistent team performance.
• Assist and scrub in during procedures, maintaining a sterile field and anticipating surgeon needs.
• Manage and update preference cards, coordinating quarterly reviews with surgeons.
• Coordinate surgical documentation, charging of procedures/implants, and ensure accuracy.
• Provide in‑service education on equipment, instrumentation, implants, and supplies used in ophthalmology.
• Lead weekly debrief meetings to discuss performance, goals, and efficiency improvements.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with experience in operating room settings.
• Familiarity with ophthalmology surgical procedures and instrumentation.
• Ability to work closely with surgeons, mid‑level providers, and peri‑operative teams.
• Strong organizational skills for coordinating schedules, preference cards, and documentation.
