Registered Nurse – Medical Ward 1 (AKPH 2X)

About the role

Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital in Lenasia, Johannesburg, is recruiting a Registered Nurse for Medical Ward 1. The nurse delivers safe, cost-effective patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and provides direct and/or indirect care to patients or groups of patients, assessing, planning, executing and supervising care.

Key responsibilities

• Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and take full responsibility for these activities
• Communicate effectively with doctors about patient requirements
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients and attend shift handovers
• Communicate clearly with patients about their care and promote their health and wellbeing
• Audit health records to ensure compliance
• Ensure stock is well controlled, managed, charged and credited correctly
• Promote good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
• Experience working in a medical ward
• Capacity to implement and maintain health practice standards required by accredited bodies and health legislation
• Flexible availability for different working hours and shifts
