Registered Nurse – Medical 3 High Care (2x AKPH)

About the role

Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital in Lenasia, Gauteng, is recruiting two registered nurses for its Medical 3 High Care unit. The nurse delivers safe, cost-effective patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and provides direct and/or indirect nursing care, assessment, planning, execution and supervision of care to meet patient needs.

Key responsibilities

• Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and take full responsibility for these activities
• Communicate effectively with doctors about patient requirements
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients and attend shift handovers
• Communicate clearly with patients about their care and promote their health and wellbeing
• Audit health records to ensure compliance
• Ensure stock is well controlled, managed, charged and credited correctly
• Promote good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
• Experience working in a Medical High Care Unit
• Capacity to implement and maintain health practice standards required by accredited bodies and health legislation
• Flexibility to work varying hours and shifts
