Registered Nurse – Inpatient/HDU (Urology)

About the role

This is a substantive Specialist Nurse position within the Urology Department of NHS Lanarkshire. The role involves caring for in‑patients and HDU patients, using complex diagnostic and treatment equipment, ordering and signing off tests, and providing digital dictation support. You will also deputise for the Team Lead when required.

Key responsibilities

• Utilise national leadership frameworks to assess and develop self‑leadership and lead others.
• Communicate complex clinical information to diverse audiences.
• Promote a supportive culture where feedback is used as a learning opportunity.
• Apply creativity and innovation to solve problems and evaluate solutions.
• Operate flow machines, bladder scanners and specimen devices, and manage digital dictation.
• Order, sign off and document diagnostic tests on a daily basis.
• Act as deputy Team Lead when needed.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with a valid NMC/HCPC registration.
• Educated to degree level with a postgraduate qualification (minimum Level 10 Honours) or working towards it.
• Demonstrated expertise in urology nursing and the ability to lead safety initiatives.

Required skills

• Experience with flow machines.
• Proficiency using bladder scanners.
• Handling of specimen devices.
• Digital dictation system operation.
