Registered Attorney with Debt Collection Expertise

About the role

We are seeking a registered attorney with extensive experience in debt collection to manage a portfolio of cases, provide legal advice, and represent clients in court. The role is critical to ensuring efficient, compliant debt recovery processes.

Key responsibilities

• Handle a portfolio of debt collection cases from initiation to resolution, ensuring timely progression through the legal process.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including negotiation, mediation, and litigation.
• Draft, review, and file legal documents such as demand letters, summons, complaints, and motions.
• Provide expert legal advice on debt collection matters, assessing claims, risks, and recovery strategies.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, including the FDCPA, and stay updated on regulatory changes.
• Conduct settlement negotiations to achieve favorable resolutions.
• Perform legal research on cases, precedents, and statutory changes.
• Collaborate with internal teams (compliance, finance, customer service) to optimise the debt collection process.

Required profile

• LLB degree and registered attorney licensure (LPC registration).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in debt collection, creditor’s rights, or related law.
• Strong negotiation and litigation abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage a high volume of cases and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commitment to ethical practices and professional integrity.
