Regional Transport Planning and Performance Analyst

About the role

Trafigura is looking for a Regional Transport Planning and Performance Analyst in Johannesburg to support the daily coordination and monitoring of road transport operations across East and Southern Africa. The role keeps consolidated visibility of truck movements, nominations, border clearance and delivery performance, follows up outstanding actions and escalates delays so that Puma Energy affiliates receive safe, timely and cost-effective supply.

Key responsibilities

• Review daily transporter updates and maintain a consolidated tracker of truck availability, nominations, loading, transit, border clearance, offloading and delivery completion.
• Share movement updates with internal teams and external counterparties, validate missing or inconsistent information and follow up on delays, turnaround times and delivery constraints.
• Support transport allocation planning and truck nominations, and monitor planned versus actual volumes, on-time loading and delivery, and turnaround times.
• Coordinate with supply and receiving teams on loading and offloading readiness, available tank capacity and changes to delivery schedules.
• Track border movements, customs documentation, clearance milestones and duty payment status, and follow up missing documents and overdue actions.
• Flag ageing nominations, trucks waiting for loading or offloading, border delays and open delivery documentation, highlighting potential detention or demurrage exposure.
• Prepare daily operational updates and weekly and monthly performance summaries, and maintain accurate records of nominations, movement updates and delivery confirmations.
• Follow up transporter, vehicle and driver compliance information, escalate safety incidents or non-compliance, and support transporter reviews and audits.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
• Graduate or early-career candidate with 1-3 years of relevant experience; internships or exposure to transport, logistics, cross-border operations or the energy sector are advantageous.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Strong Excel skills, including data consolidation, lookups and pivot tables.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn operational systems.
• Strong numerical ability, attention to detail and clear communication with multiple stakeholders.
