Recruitment Lead

About the role
BIOVAC, a leading sterile vaccine manufacturer in Africa, is seeking a dynamic Recruitment Lead on a three‑year fixed‑term contract. You will drive talent acquisition strategy, lead a high‑performing recruitment team, and ensure hiring processes align with the company’s growth objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement recruitment strategies that support business goals.
- Manage full‑cycle recruitment: sourcing, screening, interviewing, assessments, selection and onboarding.
- Oversee recruitment budget and vendor relationships (agencies, job boards, background‑check providers).
- Collaborate with department heads to forecast hiring needs and build talent pipelines.
- Lead employer‑branding and candidate‑engagement initiatives.
- Monitor recruitment KPIs, produce analytics dashboards and continuously improve processes.
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation (EEA, SDA, LRA, BCEA, POPIA) and internal policies.
- Promote inclusive hiring practices and support DEI objectives.
- Develop and mentor the recruitment team, handling performance management and succession planning.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
- 5+ years of recruitment/talent‑acquisition experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of scaling hiring operations and leading recruitment teams.
- Experience with employer branding, DEI initiatives and recruitment marketing.
- Project‑management experience; HR certifications (e.g., SHRM, LinkedIn Talent Solutions) are a plus.
- Preferably familiar with the biopharmaceutical/vaccine manufacturing industry.
Required skills
- Proficiency with ATS platforms such as Mantal and Wamly.
- Advanced sourcing using LinkedIn Recruiter.
- Strong analytical skills with Excel, Power BI or comparable HR analytics tools.
- Experience with HRIS and CRM systems.
- Knowledge of recruitment‑marketing tools and employer‑branding platforms.
- Understanding of South African labour legislation (EEA, SDA, LRA, BCEA, POPIA).
