Quality Technician – ISO9001 Laboratory

About the role

The Quality Technician will support the QC laboratory at the manufacturing plant, ensuring that all products and materials meet ISO 9001 standards. You will work closely with the Process Engineer and production teams to maintain quality documentation, perform testing, and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement inspection, testing, and evaluation methods.
• Assist in creating and maintaining ISO 9001 procedures and work instructions.
• Test products, record data, and ensure results are entered into the quality system.
• Complete testing within defined turnaround times to support production releases.
• Maintain calibration requirements for laboratory equipment.
• Keep accurate production and QC records and address audit findings.
• Prepare lab samples and evaluate products for shelf‑life extensions.
• Supervise production batches when required and participate in trials for new raw materials or process changes.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis for quality deviations and customer complaints.
• Identify non‑conforming materials and initiate corrective actions per ISO 9001 procedures.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science or related field (SAQA‑aligned).
• 1–3 years of experience in a quality control laboratory, preferably in construction chemicals, coatings, adhesives, or cementitious products.
• Strong communication and analytical abilities.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with ISO 9001 systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Accurate data recording and report‑writing skills.
