Quality Control Specialist - Analytical Lab

About the role

Mondelēz International is hiring a Quality Control Specialist for its analytical laboratory in Matsapha. The specialist provides hands-on support to the lab's operation and goals by planning and running experiments, analysing results and implementing assigned projects under guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine analytical tests on incoming raw materials, in-process samples and finished products, and report results to stakeholders.
• Analyse test results, interpret trends and patterns, and flag risks or improvement opportunities.
• Keep equipment hygienic and well maintained per OEM recommendations, and calibrate it on schedule.
• Maintain meticulous manual and electronic records in line with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
• Communicate results verbally and in writing, with recommended corrective actions where gaps are found.
• Investigate out-of-specification deviations, identify root causes and bring processes back to specification.
• Identify and implement productivity improvements, and perform basic microbiological analysis as required.
• Uphold Mondelēz and regulatory quality standards, and keep the workplace clean, organised and safe.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in science, Food Science, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant laboratory experience in the food manufacturing industry.
• Experience working in teams and independently under the guidance of senior team members.
• Ability to identify problems proactively and work on shift rotations without direct supervision.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of IL6S principles with practical implementation experience.
• Basic understanding of ISO 9001, FSSC 22000 and PAS 96 requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); SAP knowledge is an added advantage.
• Microbiological knowledge is an added advantage.
