Quality Assurance Technologist – Bushbuckridge

About the role

RCL Foods is seeking a Quality Assurance Technologist for its Sunbake baking division in Bushbuckridge. Reporting to the QA Food Safety Manager, the role will oversee daily quality and food safety activities to meet internal standards and third‑party customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all quality and food safety operations for the Sunbake business.
• Implement, maintain and audit FSSC 22000 and other quality management systems.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 22000, HACCP and customer specifications.
• Oversee supplier and external service provider performance, including pest control and cleaning.
• Conduct food safety and management review meetings.
• Control non‑conforming product and drive corrective actions.
• Monitor budgets for labour, testing, consumables and equipment maintenance.
• Lead and develop the Food Safety team, including daily task assignment and scheduling.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Consumer Science, Food Science or B‑Tech Food Technology.
• Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role within FMCG or food processing.
• Proven leadership and communication abilities.
• Internal auditor experience; lead auditor qualification is an advantage.

Required skills

• ISO 22000 implementation.
• FSSC 22000 certification and maintenance.
• Quality Management System (QMS) and HACCP program knowledge.
• Internal and lead auditing.
• Scientific testing techniques, analytical and microbiological testing.
• Strong numerical and PC literacy.
