Qualified Intermediate English Teacher – Johannesburg South

About the role

The Intermediate English Teacher will deliver high‑quality, engaging, CAPS‑aligned English lessons to small groups or individual learners in Grades 4‑9, helping build confidence and improve academic performance.

Key responsibilities

• Teach core English concepts including grammar, reading comprehension, creative writing, and literature/poetry analysis.
• Plan and implement lessons that align with the South African CAPS curriculum.
• Assess student progress through regular tests, mock exams, and essays, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
• Identify specific learning gaps and adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles.
• Prepare students thoroughly for school exams, cycle tests, and national assessments.
• Maintain a positive, focused, and encouraging learning environment within small groups.

Required profile

• B.Ed. (English) or BA English with PGCE, completed or in progress.
• Valid registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE) preferred.
• 2–5 years of teaching or tutoring experience at Intermediate or Senior Phase level.
• Deep familiarity with the South African CAPS curriculum, assessments, and requirements.
