Project Manager - High Voltage

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY SOUTH AFRICA is looking for a Project Manager in Modderfontein, Gauteng. The role ensures customer satisfaction by managing high-voltage orders from order entry to project commissioning, so that results are repeatable and customers return. It is a full-time, on-site position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the successful execution of high-voltage orders booked in South Africa.
• Monitor and achieve key KPIs such as revenue, cash flow, inventory, on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Manage frame contracts with utility customers and coordinate with factory management and factory project managers to ensure contract fulfilment.
• Ensure all order execution activities follow Hitachi Energy policies, contractual agreements, quality standards, HSE requirements, financial targets and schedule commitments.
• Identify risks, negotiate and resolve escalated issues, especially those raised by customers.
• Coordinate customer requests, including those linked to additional sales opportunities.
• Ensure projects follow good methodology and are closed according to the contracts with customers.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines, and uphold the core values of safety and integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, or equivalent, with a strong technical background.
• Experience in the high-voltage industry with exposure to project management in South Africa; experience executing projects under EPC is an advantage.
• Strong leadership skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet time, cost and quality targets.
• Ability to develop work practices and apply lessons learned, and to adapt to changing priorities and tight deadlines.
• Fluent spoken and written English.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SAP or another ERP platform is an advantage.
• Analytical, problem-solving mindset and risk mitigation.
• Attention to detail and strong collaboration with cross-functional, cross-cultural teams.
