Project Accountant – Remote (Johannesburg)

About the role

Woolpert is seeking a Project Accountant to join its Finance team. The position is fully remote, supporting projects from Johannesburg while working US business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve customer account set‑ups, ensuring billing details are complete.
• Enter contract, purchase order and invoicing terms into the Management Information System (MIS).
• Prepare accurate, timely billings and manage invoice submissions through multiple portals.
• Transfer misapplied expenses, handle billing voids and write‑offs with proper approvals.
• Maintain customer account and contract files, and close out accounts in the MIS.
• Process payments, follow up on collections, and support the Risk Management team as needed.
• Monitor collection issues, update AR ledger comments, and engage customers after 60 days outstanding.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting degree with 4‑6 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work US hours (14:00‑23:00).
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability and time‑management.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting systems and MIS reporting.
• Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel).
• Adobe products for document handling.
• Experience with Dynamics 365 and Salesforce.
• Bulk invoicing capabilities.
