Professional Nurse – Primary Health Care & ER

About the role

Valterra Platinum is seeking a Professional Nurse to deliver primary health care and emergency services at its clinic in Amandelbult, Thabazimbi. The role focuses on maintaining the physical, psychological and social well‑being of employees and visitors through comprehensive nursing care.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute daily nursing activities to meet deadlines.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans based on identified patient needs.
• Treat minor ailments and injuries, referring complex cases as required.
• Monitor and manage chronic conditions affecting workers' performance.
• Stabilise medical emergencies and coordinate stepped‑up care during stand‑by shifts.
• Administer work‑related vaccinations and conduct VCT (Voluntary Counselling and Testing) procedures.
• Prepare and maintain clinic facilities, calibrate equipment, and ensure adequate medical supplies.
• Perform physical examinations, diagnose, prescribe and dispense medication within scope of practice.
• Conduct patient triage, observations and documentation, and compile reports for internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Qualified professional nurse registered to practice in South Africa.
• Experience in primary health care and emergency response settings.
• Ability to work independently, manage a busy clinic and respond to urgent situations.

Required skills

• Clinical equipment calibration.
• VCT (Voluntary Counselling and Testing) administration.
• Medical diagnosis, prescription and medication dispensing.
• Patient triage and emergency stabilisation.
• Vaccination administration.
