Coordinating Nurse – Medical Support & Occupational Health

About the role

International SOS is seeking a Coordinating Nurse to manage and facilitate medical support across aviation, maritime, remote, and occupational health environments. The role ensures seamless communication between clients, physicians, hospitals, and assistance centres, delivering professional case management and positive patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate medical support services in aviation, maritime, and remote settings, overseeing case management and patient outcomes.
• Conduct medical assessments via telephone or telemedicine, providing clinical advice and determining fitness to fly, travel, or return to work.
• Coordinate care with clients, physicians, hospitals, and global assistance centres, arranging referrals, evacuations, and repatriations as needed.
• Monitor patient treatment, hospitalisation, and recovery to ensure appropriate care, safe discharge, and readiness to resume duties.
• Escalate complex or high‑risk cases according to protocols and provide clinical guidance to non‑medical personnel in remote or offshore locations.
• Support pre‑travel medical planning and respond to client queries on health risks, treatment options, and travel safety.
• Maintain accurate case documentation while ensuring confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
• Apply cost‑containment principles without compromising care standards.
• Deliver occupational health services, including injury and illness case management, return‑to‑work planning, and workplace injury classification and reporting.
• Assess fitness for duty and coordinate continuity of care with internal medical teams and assistance centres.

Required profile

• Nursing diploma or degree; Registered Nurse (RN) status is essential.
• Current nursing registration in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Experience in medical case coordination, telemedicine assessments, and occupational health services.
• Ability to handle confidential medical information in line with regulatory requirements.
