Production Technician – Space Satellite Communications

About the role
We are looking for a Production Technician to join our space communication division. The role involves hands‑on assembly, integration and testing of RF and digital communication units from engineering models to flight hardware, supporting the full product lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Assemble, integrate and test RF and digital communication units, including fine‑pitch PCB, cable and harness assembly, and mechanical integration.
- Perform functional, environmental and RF performance testing using spectrum analysers, vector network analysers, signal generators, power meters and oscilloscopes.
- Troubleshoot production failures, conduct root‑cause analysis and document findings in non‑conformance reports.
- Develop test jigs, create work instructions and provide design‑for‑manufacture feedback to the development team.
- Support product qualification campaigns such as thermal cycling, vibration and thermal‑vacuum testing.
- Maintain accurate build records and test data in accordance with the quality management system.
Required profile
- B‑Tech Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent with relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Production Technician working with RF and communication systems.
- Experience in an electronic manufacturing environment.
- South African citizenship or a valid work permit.
Required skills
- Fine‑pitch PCB assembly and cable/harness integration.
- Operation of spectrum analysers, vector network analysers, signal generators, oscilloscopes and power meters.
- Component‑level fault finding on analogue, digital and RF circuits.
- Interpretation of engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials and work instructions.
- ESD‑safe and moisture‑sensitive device handling practices.
- Computer literacy for recording and reporting test results.
