Production Manager

About the role

Abantu Staffing Solutions is recruiting a Production Manager in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, on a full-time basis. The role covers managing all production activities and the assigned production area, leading a cross-functional team and driving continuous improvement while keeping costs within set KPIs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all production-related activities and the allocated production area, and lead a cross-functional team to achieve corporate and plant goals.
• Produce the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost through waste elimination, problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Monitor progress and record daily, weekly and monthly targets, and assess achievement of production targets weekly and monthly.
• Keep product quality and plant costs in line with KPIs and maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
• Manage discipline and ensure training initiatives improve workforce skills.
• Maintain an effective change-point management system to handle absenteeism and new processes.
• Ensure HSE and legal compliance, including corrective action for injuries and proactive risk reduction.
• Promote a high-performance culture through DOS audits, managing by facts, jishukens, workshops, coaching, diamond meetings and regular KPI board reviews.

Required profile

• Diploma and/or degree in Engineering or Mechanical engineering.
• 3-5 years of related professional experience.
• Fluent English in reading, writing and speaking.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, motivation, influence and training abilities.
• Good organisational and planning skills, and the ability to delegate and deliver tangible results.

• PC literate with excellent Microsoft skills.
• Strategic thinking and effective problem-solving.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication.
