Production Manager

About the role

The company in Cape Town seeks an experienced Production Manager to lead manufacturing operations, ensuring delivery, quality and cost targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, manage and oversee all production activities to achieve OTIFARQ and green operational scores.
• Control production lines using a Business Process approach, including setup, startup checks and in‑process control.
• Lead and develop production teams, fostering a culture aligned with ALC values and Extreme Ownership principles.
• Handle customer complaints, implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor material usage, labour utilisation and workforce productivity against budget.
• Manage unionised workforce under the MEIBC Plastics Agreement, ensuring discipline, performance and SOP compliance.
• Identify and mitigate operational, safety and reputational risks.
• Plan capacity and headcount for permanent and flexible labour pools.
• Oversee performance management, employee reviews and training plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering (post‑grad production management or leadership qualifications advantageous).
• 5–8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience in packaging, plastics or FMCG manufacturing is a plus.
