Procurement Manager – Southern Africa

About the role

Own and optimise the end‑to‑end procurement function for Southern Africa, primarily managing imports (≈97 % of volume) and minimal local sourcing. The role ensures reliable supply aligned to demand plans while maintaining service levels and working capital.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and manage a stocked materials portfolio of at least 3,000 SKUs, scaling toward 30,000–60,000 SKUs.
• Lead a team of MRP controllers and import/export staff, including performance management and disciplinary processes.
• Control inbound ocean and air freight, evaluate freight mode and cost trade‑offs, and oversee customs and trade compliance.
• Coordinate export activities and ensure timely delivery to customers.
• Negotiate terms and lead times with suppliers, drive OTIF improvement and meet B‑BBEE procurement requirements.
• Align procurement with demand, maintain accurate purchase order books, manage shortages and demand volatility, and optimise inventory levels.
• Ensure compliance with risk and regulatory standards while providing people leadership.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain (preferred).
• 5 + years of supply‑chain experience.
• 3–4 years of people‑management experience.
• Strong analytical and numerical aptitude with high data accuracy.
• Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and prioritize effectively.
• Excellent communication skills at all organisational levels.
• Background in automotive, industrial or technical aftermarket/spare‑parts distribution.
