Process Artisan

About the role

The Process Artisan is responsible for maintaining and optimizing production equipment in a high‑speed FMCG bottling environment. You will ensure reliable operation of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems, supporting line start‑up, changeovers and continuous production.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned and preventive maintenance on production equipment.
• Conduct fault‑finding, repairs and replacements on mechanical, electrical and pneumatic components.
• Support daily line operations, including start‑up, changeovers and shutdowns.
• Monitor equipment performance, calibrate sensors and ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP and ISO standards.
• Carry out risk assessments, LOTO procedures and maintain a safe, organized work area.
• Document maintenance activities, spare‑part usage and equipment logs in the ERP system.
• Participate in root‑cause analysis, continuous‑improvement projects and knowledge‑sharing initiatives.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Trade Test Certificate (NQF Level 4‑6) in Mechanical Fitting, Millwright, Electrical or Mechatronics.
• Valid trade test; pneumatics, hydraulics and PLC training are advantageous.
• 2‑3 years post‑apprenticeship experience in an FMCG manufacturing or bottling environment.
• Familiarity with high‑speed packaging lines and automated production systems.

Required skills

• Mechanical and electrical fault‑finding and troubleshooting.
• Machine repair, setup and changeover expertise.
• Basic PLC and SCADA interface knowledge.
• Pneumatics and hydraulics systems.
• Equipment calibration and testing.
• Root‑cause failure analysis (RCFA).
