About the role

The Principal Artisan (Inland) – Electricity is responsible for ensuring that all electrical substation infrastructure complies with relevant legislation, regulations and wiring standards. The role also involves informing consumers about upcoming power outages, preparing reports and managing stock and equipment.

Key responsibilities

Ensures all electrical substation infrastructure conforms and complies with wiring legislation, regulations and standards.
Informs consumers of pending power outages.
Assists with the preparation of written reports.
Reports vandalism and theft and compiles related documentation.
Controls stock and equipment for the department.

Required profile

National Technical Certificate – Part 3.
Electrical trade test certificate.
Computer literate.
Valid Code C1 driver’s licence with PDP (or PDP to be obtained within six months of employment).
Six (6) years post‑apprenticeship experience.
Municipal experience is an advantage.
