Poultry Farm Manager

About the role

A poultry farm needs a Farm Manager to oversee daily operations, including poultry welfare, production, farm maintenance, stock control and staff management. The role suits a practical, hands-on person with strong problem-solving skills who can work independently and keep both the farm and the packing station running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee general farm operations, maintenance and upkeep of the property
• Carry out basic repairs on farm equipment or arrange external repairs when needed
• Keep poultry healthy, well-fed and in suitable living conditions
• Monitor and maintain efficient, productive poultry operations
• Manage stock and inventory, including chickens, eggs, packaging materials and animal feed
• Supervise and manage a team of about 10 employees
• Give daily feedback on farm activities, production and operational issues
• Work with the sales team so the packing station runs smoothly and stock is dispatched as required
• Handle general administrative duties and keep accurate operational records

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
• Valid driver's licence; Code 10 or Code 14 is advantageous
• Strong practical, hands-on abilities and good problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage staff and oversee daily operations
• Previous farm experience is not essential but is advantageous
• Candidates currently living in the Eastern Cape are preferred
