Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant

About the role

Dis-Chem Pharmacy is seeking a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for its Cape Gate store in Brackenfell. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, providing high‑quality customer service and supporting the dispensary operations.

Key responsibilities

• Sell Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines in compliance with regulations.
• Assist with compounding, manipulation and preparation of non‑sterile or sterile medicines.
• Re‑package medicines and manage stock control for Schedule 1‑5 items.
• Read and prepare prescriptions, label and dispense medicines after pharmacist verification.
• Provide patients with clear instructions on medication use and promote health education.
• Capture and verify patient details accurately.
• Process medical aid claims, correct rejected scripts and handle special orders.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of drug interactions, dosages and medical aid procedures.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with Mathematics (HG), Life Science or Physical Science and at least 50% average.
• Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
• Ability to work under direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication handling.
• Excellent customer service orientation.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency.
• Numerical skills.
• Knowledge of Unisolv software.
• Experience with E‑Scripting.
