Portfolio Manager - Insurance (UMA Experience Required)

About the role

Be Different is recruiting a Portfolio Manager in Sandton, Gauteng, on a full-time basis. The role covers developing and growing an existing client portfolio and acquiring new business and products, with a requirement for short-term and UMA experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the existing portfolio by building a prospect pipeline through business, broker and client relationships, interpreting financial statements and actuarial data, and identifying opportunities to maintain and grow the portfolio.
• Hold client meetings, discuss statistical information, check and forward financial statements, design status reports and provide prompt authorisation of claim payments.
• Re-evaluate portfolio structures and servicing needs, evaluate client needs to enhance cross-selling, and take part in the renewal process with brokers and clients.
• Ensure all documentation for the insurance programme is in place.
• Develop new prospects and products, achieve a targeted annual new business budget, and build relationships with Financial Managers, Financial Directors and Risk Managers at client executive level.
• Liaise with underwriting, finance, actuarial and claims departments, attend product launches, finalise pricing and costs, and coordinate documentation, roles, agreements and processes.
• Maintain the CSA (monthly) questions through the CURA Risk Management System, attend monthly operational meetings, administer client files, track renewals and manage delivery against deadlines.

Required profile

• BCom degree.
• 4 to 6 years of general business and insurance experience.
• Short-term experience and UMA experience (not negotiable).
• Knowledge of insurance and the industry; project management (ideal); FAIS compliance (preferable).
• Analytical thinking, attention to detail, results and solution focus, self-management, visibility and impact, communication, customer service orientation, relationship building, teamwork and business and financial acumen.
