Platform and Compute Engineer

About the role

Logicalis is an international IT solutions provider offering digital enablement services, including data centre and cloud services, security and network infrastructure, and IT operations modernisation. As a Platform and Compute Engineer, you join the Platform and Compute Support team, which keeps enterprise cloud, managed private clouds, managed services customer environments and internal cloud environments running smoothly. You will work on incidents, problems, requests and change requests following ITIL principles, and support a 24/7 shift team out of hours on standby rotation, sometimes on a staggered schedule to cover offshore customers.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support of customer network and server environments, including troubleshooting and fixing faults, and keeping customers informed by phone and email.
• Update tickets in ServiceNow/Autotask with quality notes on progress and actions taken.
• Complete customer environment change requests, including impact and risk analysis, and implement them out of hours where required.
• Provide daily administration for managed service customers and contribute to technical incident reports.
• Capture repeat faults, carry out root cause analysis and proactively identify fault trends.
• Maintain and update customer technical documentation, and help identify gaps in knowledge and skills.
• Work on the on-call rota, responding within SLA times to calls from the MSC Shift team out of hours.
• Attend the Change Advisory Board, customer meetings and customer sites, and undertake technical audits for key customers.

Required profile

• Graduate or qualified by experience (1-2 years essential).
• Ability to handle high-impact, high-profile incidents in a busy, pressurised environment.
• Clear verbal and written communication, customer-focused and able to explain technical issues to people of varying technical levels.
• Light motor vehicle driving licence (code B) and own reliable transport.
• Ability to obtain security clearance.

Required skills

• Essential: VMware vSphere, Microsoft Azure IaaS, Microsoft 365 administration, Windows Server administration and troubleshooting.
• Desirable: Azure AD VM, Hyper-V, server hardware support (Dell, HP, IBM), storage systems, Linux administration, scripting (PowerShell, PowerCLI), Veeam Backup, Commvault.
• Ideal certifications: AZ-900, AZ-104, MS-100/MS-101, VMware VCP, Veeam and Commvault certifications, ITIL Foundation.
