Pharmacist Intern

About the role

The internship at Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Bloemfontein is designed to give learners a solid understanding of the pharmaceutical environment and promote lifelong learning. Interns will support the delivery of pharmaceutical care and ensure high‑quality customer service in a retail setting. The role offers exposure to a fast‑paced pharmacy environment and the chance to develop professional competencies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pharmaceutical care by addressing patients’ medication‑related needs.
• Take responsibility for ensuring patients receive appropriate medication support.
• Deliver excellent customer service to store visitors.
• Assist with inventory management and ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety standards.

Required profile

• Willing and able to work retail hours.
• Physically fit and able to stand for long periods.
• Valid driver’s licence with reliable transport.
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council or hold a valid work permit.
• Clear credit and criminal records.

Required skills

• Knowledge of retail/FMCG operations.
• Proficiency in a third language.
• Understanding of drug and family planning, and complementary medicine.
