Pharmacist Intern (12‑month placement)

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Pharmacy Intern for a 12‑month placement to support its in‑hospital pharmaceutical services. The role provides hands‑on experience in dispensing, stock management and compliance with South African pharmacy legislation while working alongside qualified pharmacists.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the availability of medicines and scheduled substances for hospital stores and the public.
• Accurately dispense prescribed medications to patients.
• Maintain efficient stock holding and control of medicines and scheduled substances.

Required profile

• Essential education: Bachelor of Pharmacy (B Pharm).
• No prior experience required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Medicines and Related Substances Control Act and other relevant legislation.
• Understanding of financial management and good pharmacy practices.
• Familiarity with medical aid scheme benefits, regulations and formularies.
• Experience with clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardship concepts.
• Proficiency in pharmacy systems such as UNISOLVE and AS400.
• Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.
• Ethical product knowledge.
