People Operations Officer

About the role

Join BIOVAC, a leading sterile vaccine manufacturer in Africa, as a People Operations Officer. You will support the organization’s mission to protect life by managing end‑to‑end HR processes and ensuring a positive employee experience.

Key responsibilities

• Create and post job advertisements, source candidates, screen resumes, and conduct initial interviews.
• Coordinate interview schedules, participate in interview panels, and manage reference and background checks.
• Prepare and extend job offers in line with budget approvals.
• Lead onboarding activities, verify new‑starter documentation, schedule progress meetings, and facilitate buddy assignments.
• Manage off‑boarding, including resignation processing, benefits cancellation, exit interviews, and checklist completion.
• Support industrial relations by consulting with the People Operations Business Partner on employee relations matters.
• Maintain HR reporting and ensure compliance with relevant labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EEA).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or equivalent.
• 1‑3 years of HR generalist experience covering recruitment, employee relations, performance management and HR reporting.
• Knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EEA); preferred familiarity with pharmaceutical manufacturing regulations.
• Experience handling local or international quality audits and working in a commercial environment.
