Part-Time Lecturer (Communication Sciences) 2027

About the role

The Department of Communication Sciences at the Bloemfontein campus of the Central University of Technology, Free State is recruiting part-time lecturers for 2027. The appointment is made on an hourly basis for specific semester and/or year subjects covering teaching, learning and assessment and related administration.

Key responsibilities

• Develop academic material and deliver lectures in allocated subjects for own and other programmes
• Carry out student evaluation, research and community projects
• Lecture on the relevant CUT campus during scheduled class hours, which may include evening work
• Deliver face-to-face, remote or hybrid lectures; facilitation and assessment formats may change on short notice

Required profile

• An appropriate postgraduate diploma, honours, master's or doctorate degree depending on the level of presentation
• Previous lecturing experience is recommended
• Experience with electronic education (Blackboard) is recommended

What we offer

• Hourly pay depending on qualifications and experience: junior lecturer R292, lecturer R358, senior lecturer R438, associate professor/professor R600 per hour (2026 rates)
• Appointments are for specific subjects and semesters
