Part-Time Lecturer - Civil Engineering (2027)

About the role

The Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment & Information Technology, Department of Civil Engineering at the Bloemfontein campus of the Central University of Technology, Free State, is recruiting part-time lecturers for 2027. The appointment is on an hourly basis for specific semester and/or year subjects, with face-to-face lectures on campus.

Key responsibilities

• Develop academic material and deliver lectures in allocated subjects for own and other programmes
• Carry out research and community engagement projects
• Teach, assess students and handle administration and control of the course
• Provide community service

Required profile

• B Eng Tech Hons (NQF Level 8), Master's (NQF Level 9) or Doctorate (NQF Level 10) in Civil Engineering
• PrEng/PrTechEng registration with ECSA, or candidate registration with ECSA
• Previous lecturing experience is recommended; experience with electronic learning management systems such as Blackboard is beneficial
• Must be able to lecture on the Bloemfontein campus and attend scheduled class hours

What we offer

• Hourly pay depending on qualifications and experience: Junior Lecturer R292, Lecturer R358, Senior Lecturer R438, Ass. Prof./Prof. R600 per hour (2026 rates)
• Lectures are face-to-face on campus
