Part-Time Lecturer (Built Environment) 2027

About the role

The Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment & Information Technology, Department of Built Environment, Bloemfontein Campus, is recruiting part-time lecturers for 2027. Lecturers are appointed on an hourly basis for specific semester and/or year subjects, teaching face-to-face on campus during the assigned class hours.

Key responsibilities

• Develop academic material and deliver lectures in allocated subjects for own and other programmes
• Carry out research and community engagement projects
• Teach, assess students and handle administration, control and organisation of the course
• Provide community service

Subjects include Contract Administration, Quantity Surveying, Construction Technology, Health and Safety Practice, Facility Management and others listed in the advert.

Required profile

• A postgraduate diploma, honours, master's or doctorate degree in Quantity Surveying, Health and Safety Management or Construction Management, depending on the level of presentation
• Previous lecturing experience is recommended
• Experience with electronic education (Blackboard) is recommended
• Own laptop computer

What we offer

• Hourly pay depending on qualifications and experience: Junior Lecturer R292, Lecturer R358, Senior Lecturer R438, A-Prof/Prof R600 per hour (2026 rates)
• Face-to-face teaching on the Bloemfontein campus
