Paediatrics Unit Manager – Pietermaritzburg

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Unit Manager to lead our Paediatrics unit in Pietermaritzburg, KZN. The role involves overseeing clinical care, staff development and ensuring high‑quality patient outcomes within a private healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor nursing care plans, coordinating treatment programmes to achieve clinical targets.
• Act as the clinical expert, driving patient outcomes and conducting quality care rounds and clinical audits.
• Ensure competence of nursing staff and students, provide feedback and foster a learning‑focused environment.
• Address patient and customer complaints, promote satisfaction and report on quality initiatives.
• Implement national quality initiatives and report on improvements.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing with current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Relevant experience in a Paediatric ward – essential.
• Proven leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Basic understanding of labour legislation, financial and supply‑chain principles.
• Knowledge of the private healthcare industry is advantageous.
• Computer proficiency and a valid driver’s licence with ability to travel.
