Outside Operator Uptakes #3 – Plant Operations

About the role

Sappi is seeking an Outside Operator Uptakes #3 to safely operate and monitor plant equipment outside the control room. The role focuses on maintaining optimal production, minimizing downtime, and supporting the Process Controller.

Key responsibilities

• Take and hand over shifts, ensuring clear communication and continuity.
• Monitor, control, and audit all outside plant equipment parameters.
• Perform pre‑start‑up inspections, start‑ups and shutdowns according to approved procedures.
• Conduct regular equipment inspections, take samples, and implement corrective actions.
• Identify, report, and respond to abnormal conditions, breakdowns, and power failures.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and support the Shift Superintendent.
• Ensure a safe work environment, comply with SHEQ policies, and report incidents.
• Maintain the outside plant shut list, record defects, and communicate maintenance needs.
• Follow SAP notification and work‑order processes, recording operational data accurately.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Physical Science.
• N3 qualification in Pulp and Paper.
• Minimum 3 years of production experience in a manufacturing environment.
