Outpatient Clinic Receptionist (Band 2) – NHS Grampian

About the role

The Outpatient Administration team at NHS Grampian is seeking motivated individuals to provide front‑line administrative support across several Aberdeen hospitals. The role involves handling patient enquiries, processing referrals and ensuring clinics run smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Answer telephone enquiries from patients and provide accurate information.
• Process GP referrals and prepare clinic lists and related paperwork.
• Assist clinic coordinators with booking appointments from outpatient waiting lists.
• Perform general administrative duties to support the Outpatients Department.
• Cover multiple sites as a relief receptionist, moving between locations as needed.

Required profile

• Excellent customer service and a polite telephone manner.
• Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to staff shortages.
• Strong organisational and methodical approach.
• Team‑oriented with confident, caring and empathetic communication.

Required skills

• Proficient use of standard IT applications, including Microsoft Office.
