Operations Officer (Bulk & Commercial)

About the role

The City of Ekurhuleni is recruiting a full-time Operations Officer (Bulk & Commercial) to manage the waste management operations depot. The role covers planning, coordination, fleet management and financial control of refuse removal services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage short-, medium- and long-term operational processes within the waste management depot
• Coordinate the activities of the various sub-services in the depot to use resources optimally
• Plan vehicle routes so that work and vehicles are distributed equally
• Maintain the administrative processes of the depot
• Balance productivity against workload and plan operational requirements
• Identify training needs for staff and enforce discipline where required
• Supervise the application of council policies and improve working relationships
• Plan activities that expand service provision and generate revenue for the municipality
• Keep services cost-effective, control income versus expenditure and manage the depot's fleet
• Ensure good relationships and liaison with stakeholders

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate
• National Diploma in Environmental Management, Environmental Health or Waste Management, or an equivalent NQF 6 qualification
• Valid Code B driver's licence
• 3 years of relevant experience
