NIMART Nurse for People Who Inject Drugs (uMgungundlovu)

About the role

The NIMART Nurse will deliver comprehensive primary health care to people who inject drugs (PWID) in the uMgungundlovu region. Working within TB HIV Care, you will join a multidisciplinary team focused on HIV, TB and related health challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Provide integrated diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and evaluation of communicable and infectious diseases.
• Deliver preventative, curative and rehabilitative care to adult PWID, including management of non‑communicable conditions.
• Initiate and manage Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) for clients.
• Offer health education and advice on treatment regimens to ensure effective primary health care.
• Monitor and document adverse drug reactions for all prescribed therapies.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with experience in HIV/TB care.
• Demonstrated ability to work with high‑risk populations, particularly PWID.
• Solution‑driven team player interested in career development.
• Willingness to operate in a dynamic South African health‑care environment.

Required skills

• NIMART (Nurse Initiated Management of Antiretroviral Therapy).
